Be the Change

Baltimore deserves a leader who listens, leads with integrity, and fights for real results. Mark Conway has spent his career working to make our communities safer, stronger, and more connected, and now he’s ready to take that fight to Congress. Watch Mark’s campaign launch video to hear his vision for Maryland’s future and how, together, we can make change that matters.

WHY I’M RUNNING

Baltimore is at a crossroads, confronted by both unprecedented challenges and generational opportunities. As we stand at the edge of change, the question is whether that transformation will lift families up, or leave them further behind. This moment calls for Baltimore’s Congressman to be a watchdog for federal dollars, a fighter who will hold both Washington and City Hall accountable, and a leader ready to bring new solutions to the challenges the politics of yesterday cannot solve.

I’m running for Congress because it’s going to take a different playbook to fight for the future we deserve. As your next Congressman, I’ll take on the machine to bring down utility bills, bring grocery stores into our neighborhoods, and bring resources that keep Baltimore safe through trust and partnership, not force and performance.

MY STORY

I was raised by two corrections officers whose union jobs lifted them out of the Projects and into the middle class. Their example taught me the dignity of work, instilled a respect for those who keep our communities safe, and inspired my commitment to public service. Today,  the ladder that carried them upward is increasingly being pulled out of reach for too many working families.

After graduating from the University of Maryland, I moved to Baltimore, the city where I met my wife, where we were married, and where we have raised our two daughters ever since. I worked at the EPA, protecting communities from pollution and environmental risks. In City Hall, I used data to measure performance and hold agencies accountable to the people they serve. As a nonprofit leader, I’ve worked to expand opportunity and bring resources into underserved neighborhoods. But the honor of my life has been representing Baltimore’s 4th District, where I have fought to reduce crime, confront the opioid epidemic, and hold BGE accountable for its price gouging.

Those experiences have prepared me to lead in this moment: I have seen how Washington policies shape the daily lives of Baltimore families, how City Hall too often fails to deliver, and how communities suffer when accountability breaks down. I know how to fight for resources, how to make government work, and how to stand up to powerful interests. As your next Congressman, that is the perspective I will bring to the job: rooted in service, sharpened by experience, and focused on giving Baltimore the future it deserves.
